Truck Accident Attorney

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration one out of nine traffic fatalities in 2008 resulted from a collision involving a large truck weighing at least 10,000 pounds.

When semi-trailer trucks and other large vehicles are involved in accidents, serious injuries are unfortunately likely to occur.  Semis are heavy, sometimes weighing forty tons when loaded.  By contrast a mid-size car weighs between two and three tons.  The average semi is over thirteen feet high and seventy to eighty feet long.  A collision between a car and a large truck therefore involves greater physical forces and often greater trauma than other accidents.

A big truck is harder to control than a car.  For example it takes 40% more time to bring a semi to a stop.  Large trucks must be well-maintained.  Drivers must be qualified to operate these vehicles.  They must be alert.  They must not be overtired.  If they are transporting dangerous chemicals or explosives, cargo must be handled with care.  These factors and others must be considered in the investigation of a trucking accident in which someone has died or been seriously injured.

If you or your relative or friend has been seriously injured in an accident involving a large truck, the law office of Warren R. Baldys, Esq., can assist you.  Do not sign any documents from the insurance company without consulting an attorney.  Do not give a statement to the insurance company or allow your phone conversation with the insurance adjuster to be recorded.  Do contact our office as soon as possible for representation.
